BRIAN LAUNDRIE HANDWRITING/ STATEMENT ANALYSIS

_____________________________________________________

Handwriting is unique to each individual, each writer's circumstance at the moment they wrote writing sample. Even if handwriting looks different from page one, in contrast to the rest of the letter, there are reasons that handwriting is sometimes called "brain reading" or "brain leakage."

On the first page, Brian is in the midst of psychosis. Profound psychosis. People without gross pathology tend to write one of three ways: slant backward, middle slant/no slant, and slight right slant (considered most healthy and happy). Brian's writing is up, then down, then, up, then down; there is no language in which the writing rules apply to this form. Oddly, what was also showing, in his handwriting, that was a love of opera. Why, that would be an emerging characteristic, but it's there in a couple of places. If you see a lower case "i" that has a bubble above it, or if you make a period with the same kind of circle i-dot, it reflects a love on classical music and opera. Wouldn't be a stretch, as narcissism is through his writing, til the end, that maybe he was thinking this was his "show", his "opera", his "story", as he was writing as though it was a scene from a movie; overly dramatic, with unnecessary words, that serve as filler; filling in where accountability should be but is absent.

Brian has a persona, and this persona is that of a "good guy." Nothing can conflict with this narrative, or else he feels rage, anger, adrenaline, and can be very manipulative. Brian was very good at playing the role of "fake good guy."

Bold and or heavy letters (when you can tell the writer is pressing harder) reflects aggression and intense delusions of grandeur. His handwriting reflects the stereotypical "momma's boy." If there is ANYONE he consistently TRUSTED, was his mother. Interesting, as it seems they were communicating someone by letters Brian was supposed to "burn after reading." Brian's handwriting additionally reflects unresolved issues with father associated with anger.

When a writer is writer a letter, it can be looked at as following into one of two categories
: 1 INTENDED TARGET
2. UNINTENDED TARGET

1. the first means simply, to whom is the letter addressed. In this case, it was addressed to Gabby. But, why would you write a letter to a dead person, right? This shows signs of manipulation consistently throughout his writing.
2. unintended target is a letter written with the knowledge others will likely read it. I would submit to you, the real audience is "the world" as he would have been aware of social media and its presence. There is more paranoia and fear reflected in his writing as well. And, if this was his "suicide note" we would expect to see that under the circumstances.

PRONOUNS: not only does Brian change tenses and unintended targets with  several different shifts in thought t/o letter.
Interestingly Brian uses many different pronouns, which is odd and indicative of lying/deceit. in the course of this letter. He also uses the pronouns "we, "you", "I" "them, "they"'and our' to name a few.

Constantly switching his audience is a strong indicator of lying and manipulation. He says "I'm sorry" to his parents, but ppl who take accountability, finish that sentence with what they are sorry for. That's part of the reason we apologize, to take accountability. He is distancing himself here, likely bc of true guilt he feels toward his mother. Mother thinks of him as the favorite child; the "Golden Child." Hard for Narcissistic parents, of either gender, to not subject Brian to ANY criticism. In his parents eyes he could do no wrong, and did no wrong.

There are signs that this note was premeditated in nature; telling this story earlier in the journey. If it was found in the van, as I understand it, it could be a "practice nte" that he jotted down possibly right after he murdered her. This would explain the entire first page reflecting so much psychosis.

Brian uses word tragedy (which he spelled wrong).lol this means, according to dictionary, something that befalls upon us, unintentional, fate. This is "softening language". His language minimizes what the act of murder is. Murder is a much more aggressive wourd than a tragedy/ Much more accountable wording as well.

He engages in "narrative doping" it is pretty self-explanatory. He's trying to be in control of his "play", "his story, "his narrative", the way he wants himself represented despiite his behavior.

When a letter jumps around in time, this is indicative of not telling the truth.
He has a real need, so says his handwriting, to be "a hero", "the hero, 'or even "Gabby's hero."

When he remarks "she was so thin", this is actually a passive aggressive statement with a subtle blame shift. Blaming her for being "thin:", "weak", "fragile." Almost blaming Gabby for neing "weak, " 'Thin" "frail". Implying , maybe, in his story, that if she were heavier, somehow her ootcome would've been better in terms of her chance of surviving.

"the cycle" he refers to is his own cycle, their cycle, of aggression; of love and contrasting hate. DV cycle is the. inference. Again, in handwriting it is reflected his need to be "a hero"; matches his "good guy persona".

The only letter in the entire note that he capitalized, was the letter "I". "I" is taller than all his other letters. This reflects his ego, need for constant attention, jealousy, and sheer narcissism. He's trying to write himself in as a victim, somehow, in Gabby's murder.

"I ended her life" is "softening language" (understatement). Sounds a lot better than I "hit her over the head with a rock, and bashed in face in, and throttled her to death." He wants everyone  to think of him was a "good guy" and that he did what anyone with "mercy" would do. Justifying murder.

It's a common myth that narcissists don't commit suicide. If they are feeling a complete loss of control, to avoid prison is another reason they commit suicide. That way, they escape what they fear most at their core, humiliation avoidant, judgment avoidant. Being "right" or convincing others he is "right" is very important to him. He DID NOT KILL HIMSELF BECAUSE he 'couldn't live without Gabby." Had nothing to do with Gabby, it's about his loss of control, that ended in a violent murder. He doesn't take accountability in the sense he robbed Gabby's family of answers, and was "in control" and narcissist til the end. The last line is the narcissist icing on the  count.

The latter part of letter is what's caused "narcissistic collapse." he gets consumed with his "good guy persona narcissism, his hatred, contempt, and jealousy toward Gabby.
