STATEMENT ANALYSIS/ RED FLAGS WITH KAREN READ
KAREN READ: (finishing up) Statement Analysis and Red Flags
______________________________________
1. "I said to John, can we make sure that we're welcome over
there (AT THE ALBERT"S HOUSE)? NOBODY extended an invitation
to me, and I never heard them extend one to you."
-this is an odd remark, as the whole pretense to following ppl
was to go to the "afterparty " at Police Officer's house.
-there would many multiple witnesses to testify that John was
invited

2. RED FLAG: Karen, allegedly, dropped of John, as she claims,
and arrived home, per her timeline around 12-1 am. Claims she fell
asleep around 1, but awoke again at 4am; 3 hours later

3. Interviewer asks, " HOW long was it, when you guys were driving up to
scene, until you saw John's body?"
ANSWER: "Immediately. What struck me, when I saw him, was his
mouth was open a little bit, but his eyes were closed. He had blood spots
on different areas of his face."
-the other two passengers in the car didn't see John at all near the time that
Karen alleges she saw him and started screaming.
-the most notable , visibly, of John's injuries, was a skull fracture, to the back of
the occipital bone (responsible for vision), causing the pooling of blood in both
eyes. Karen never mentions this CLEARLY OBVIOUS injury.

4. Karen volunteered the following information: " I told both Jen
and Carrie that I broke my headlight bc I just hit my car on top of
everything. I didn't ever look at the damage. They did, and they told me it
was cracked, not broken."
-offering information/excuses without being prompted
-speaks to consciousness of guilt
-if she knew she hit something/someone, why wouldn't she check for damage on her own car?
-the witness statements, from the other two women present with Karen, do not align with
Karen's version of events.
