CONFIRMATION BIAS

Definition: confirmation bias is people's tendency to process

information by looking for an interpretation in accordance

with their own beliefs.

 Largely, this is unintentional decision making,. It results

in IGNORING the facts that are inconsistent with one's beliefs.

This type of thinking is somewhat illogical in nature. Typically,

the person is emotionally distant from one version of facts.

Confirmation bias can exist even when there are no motivation

for the person they are accusing. Sometimes, 


HOW DO COMBAT CONFIRMATION BIAS

1. IDENTIFY: one cannot cherry pick information and cling to

those points. If one is only seeking information to back up

your own beliefs, You will miss FACTS.

PROBLEM WITH CONFIRMATION BIAS

1. Biases contribute to overconfidence in personal beliefs.

People try to hold onto personal beliefs, strong beliefs,

in the face of evidence. 


2. Confirmation bias leads to false allegations and convictions.

There is such a blind eye turned toward any forms of facts and evidence.


3. Confirmation bias is a means in which one is so blinded to

truth and facts, bc they refuse to let go or pre-conceived 

notions.
