Terms and Definitions
Definition:
noun: psychopath; plural noun: psychopaths
a person affected by chronic mental disorder with abnormal or violent social behavior.
The term "psychopath" is used to describe someone who is callous, unemotional, and morally depraved. Although not an official diagnosis in the DSM IV. Often it used in clinical/ legal settings to refer to a person who often is ego-driven, antisocial, lacking remorse and empathy for others, and often has criminal tendencies. Sometimes referred to missing a "moral compass."
Many psychopathy characteristics overlap with symptoms of Anti-Social Personality Disorder, a broader mental health condition used to describe people who chronically act out and break rules. But only a small number of individuals with antisocial personality disorder are considered to be a psychopath.

DEFINING CHARACTERISTICS OF A PSYCHOPATH
1. SUPERFICIAL CHARM: they may present, on the surface,
as likable.
2. NEED FOR STIMULATION: Psychopaths love excitement and they
live their "lives in the fast lane;" so to speak. Their need for
stimulation usually means they are willing to break rules/laws.
Some psychopaths find excitement in the thought "of never
getting caught", or even the chance that they "could be caught" can be
motivating feelings to feel.
3. PATHOLOGICAL LYING: Often the psychopath lies to look "good",
or seem "better than they are." Often times, psychopaths lie
with such great frequency, that they often forget the lies that they
have told to others.
4. GRANDIOSE SENSE OF SELF: Psychopaths have an "inflated"
sense of self. They view themselves as "important" and "entitled."
Psychopaths tend to live according to their own rules, and with
a sense of feeling that laws, in general, do not apply to them.
5. MANIPULATIVE: Psychopaths are very good at getting other
people to do things for them; often their "dirty work." In addition,
psychopaths play on the guilt others experience
6. ABSENCE OF REMORSE: A psychopath doesn't care how their
actions effect or make others feel. They feel NO GUILT toward
OTHER PAIN. Often, psychopaths just blame everyone around them.
7. LACKING EMPATHY: Since psychopaths cannot read emotions well
they will often, instead, show anger and a willingness to intimidate
others.
8. PARASITIC LIFESTYLE: Psychopaths have a lot of "sob stories"
and often cast themselves as the "victim." Psychopaths tend to
take advantage of the kindness extended to them from others.
Additionally, psychopaths tend to rely on others financially;
using others/manipulating others in order to get what THEY want.
9. POOR BEHAVIOR CONROL/REGULATION: Psychopaths struggle
to follow moral laws, and laws in general. Since they do not like
being told what to do, they have no use for rules, laws, policies.
10. PROMISCUOUS SEXUAL BEHAVIOR: Psychopaths cheat, record
others, intimately, without their consent or knowledge (to gain
power of blackmail over another person). Psychopaths also engage
in risk promiscuous behavior; ie, excess sex with prostitutes,
having a large number of sexual partners across their lifetime.
11. PRONE TO ABUSING DRUGS AND ALCOHOL: many psychopaths
engage in drugs/drinking to even further lower their inhibitions.
However, it should be noted that, introducing the additional
variables of drug and alcohol abuse, to a psychopath's nature,
this increases the likelihood of the psychopath eventually behaving
aggressively.
12. LACK OF REALISTIC GOALS: Many times, a psychopath might
state, for example, in terms of future goals, something like,
"I want to be rich and famous." They generally lack any personal
insight as to how to go about accomplishing their unrealistic
expectations of themselves.
13. IMPULSIVITY: Psychopaths respond according to how they feel.
Psychopaths do not consider and consequences in the future,
to their present behavior. Psychopaths indulge in
immediate-gratification with little restraint.
14. IRRESPONSIBILITY: Promises mean nothing to a psychopath.
Psychopaths are NEVER trust worthy. Many psychopaths "give Up"
or "quit" things, often. They quit, change jobs, move.
15. CRIMINAL VERSATILITY: Psychopaths may have a variety of driving
infractions, financial crimes, fraud, forgery, theft. Also of note, there
is an increased likelihood of violence occurring if the psychopath is
confronted on any of the behaviors above listed that they are
portraying.
