LONE WOLF TERRORISM IN AMERICA
LONE WOLF TERRORISM IN AMERICA
_____________________________________
ABSTRACT/OVERVIEW: Research gathered over time was put into
a government database that is considered the largest in existence
in terms of databases dedicated solely to collecting data about
"lone wolf" terrorism. The most recent detailed research suggests
that two trends have made themselves more clear though the
results of in-depth-research:
1. Studies have found that the biggest threats/targets of
domestic terrorism are uniformed police and or military members.
2. Secondly, recent trends suggest a commonality in mass
shooting events, the lone wolf's weapon of choice has
overwhelmingly become a long-range, or high-velocity firearms.
There is no absolute or distinct "profile" of what age, or picture
of what the lone wolf presents. There were some distinct
commonalities in all lone wolf situations: most were "bullied", are
single, white, male; likely with a criminal record. When lone
wolves are compared to organized terrorist groups, lone wolves
tend to be less educated and or more prone to mental illness.

WEAPONRY
Prior to 9/11, a total of 334 victims were killed or wounded
by bombs perpetrated by lone wolf terrorism. Post 9/11,
there have been NONE. This decline is thought to be attributed to
the decline of availability of bomb-making-materials that were
put into law; in the wake of the Oklahoma City Bombings.
Again, as noted above, the clear, re-occuring choice of lone
Wolf actors, is a long-range, high-velocity type of weaponry.

COPYCAT ATTACKS
Data reflects that there is a copycat aspect to lone wolf attackers
approximately 1/3 of the time overall.

WHAT RESEARCH INTO LONE WOLF ATTACKS HAS TAUGHT US
Lone wolf terrorists tend to be unmoored from society as
a whole. They feel emotionally excluded, deprived of their
thoughts and values, and, tend to form grievances against
the government itself.
Many lone wolf terrorist hold the. government directly
responsible for their unemployment, and, hold the government
responsible for dis regulation in their personal lives;
and attribute injustices to the government. More than 50% of
lone wolf terrorists, embraced right-wing-ideology, or
anti-government attitudes/idealogies. Data reflects a
re-emergence of white-nationalist-basedor-driven-idealogy.
Lone wolf terrorists tended to produce terrorism that arises
from personal AND political grievances combined. There is a
tendency for these terrorists to be from poorer socioeconomic
demographics and recruited according. In contrast,
to religious terrorism, who will recruit from ALL areas of
society.
There is a common theme or element of commonality
amongst many lone wolf terrorists, in that they seek
"emotional retribution", or a "look at me" (attention, to
be "remembered in history." More often than not, lone wolves
are dissatisfied with their lives, the role they play in their lives,
a sense of righteous revenge (bc of being perceived as being
slighted), feel their "rights" have been violated. For some,
the event itself proves to be their legacy; leaving manifestos
of their reasoning, as documented by the terrorists, that
the FBI and others can continue to glean information from/
learn from as research also continues over the yeas as well.
