HOW FEMALES CAN REDUCE THEIR RISK OF FALLING VICTIM OF CRIME

 While there are clearly no "100 percent proof ways", means, or rules to follow, that could ensure anyone's safety  100%. However, research has born out some SITUATIONAL AWARENESS-type Guidelines or suggestions, as detailed below, DO DECREASE the probability and assert some control over one's own environment.


1. Your voice is a good DETERRENT; use it.


2. take self-defense classes


3.conceal expensive jewelry when you are out


4. Carry extra change, or just some change, on your person. That ensures, in situations maybe you hadn't planned for, where using a public pay phone may be a viable option.


5. BE ALERT; make it a point to walk with self-confidence.


6. Should you ever be attacked, use your "personal alarm" (an umbrella, keys, whatever is available, and or on hand).


7. When using sidewalks, try to walk down the middle.  ALWAYS stay away from secluded alleyways and or buildings.


8. If you suspect you are being followed, call, in a timely manner, police, ASAP.


9. When using a purse/handbag, briefcases, laptops, that you carry often, on your person, be prepared NOT to resist if these are items a criminal is targeting you for.


10. When walking, always walk facing incoming traffic


11. DO NOT use HEADPHONES while on hiking/jogging paths or paths


12. Avoid giving identifying information to strangers.


`13. When possible, wait in "bus stop areas"; more noises and more people.


14. Never take a ride from anyone other than UBER/TAXI,etc.


15. If you ever feel unsafe in Taxi, etc., ask to be let out.


16. Always PLAN your journey/route


17. Don't carry large sums of money on your person


18. After dark, have keys ready when nearby home so you can enter your house quickly.
