THE 50 ACCUSED FELONIES AGAINST STEPHAN STERNS

60 Charges Filed Against Defendant Stephan Sterns

 The State Attorney’s Office for the Ninth Judicial Circuit filed a 60-count information against defendant Stephan Sterns, the person associated with the disappearance of 13-year-old Madeline Soto.

Sterns is facing the following charges:

• 8 counts of Sexual Battery on a Child Under 12

• 5 counts of Sexual Battery with a Child 12-18 (Familial/Custodial Authority)

• 7 counts of Lewd or Lascivious Molestation

• 40 counts of Unlawful Possession of Materials Depicting Sexual Performance by a Child Ten or More Images

During law enforcement’s investigation into the disappearance of Soto, Kissimmee Police found several images and videos on Sterns’ phone and arrested him on charges of sexual battery with a child, capital sexual battery and possession of material depicting sexual performance by a child. He is currently being held on no bond in the Osceola Department of Corrections.

State Attorney Bain said, “The State Attorney’s Office has been working closely with KPD and received evidence that gave us cause to file formal charges against Sterns. We appreciate the thoroughness and detailed attention of their investigation and will continue to work with our law enforcement partners to build a strong case against the defendant.”

Sterns will eventually be arraigned on the charges. The latest information on court hearings can be found on the Osceola County Clerk of Courts website.

Sexual Battery on a Child Under 12 is a capital felony, punishable by life in prison if a defendant is convicted. Charges of Sexual Battery with a Child 12-18 and Lewd or Lascivious Molestation carry sentences of up to life in prison if a person is convicted. If convicted, a defendant can receive up to 15 years in prison for each count of Unlawful Possession of Materials Depicting Sexual Performance by a Child.

Charges are merely an allegation, and all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

AUGUST 2024: new document dumps/more detailed information released

1. In part, on one single hard drive, STERNS, had, in his DAD'S STORAGE UNIT (known to no one but STERNS), over 1,700 images of Madeline Soto in some picture/digital medium.

2. In addition to finding above mentioned items in STEPHAN's father's storage unit, they located multiple surveillance items and recording devices.

3. According to STERNS AND JENN SOTO, it was NOT uncommon for Madeline, only recently having turned 13, to sleep with mother, mother and STERNS, and at times, alone with STERNS.

4. both STERNS AND JENN SOTO confirm that on Sunday evening, the night before the Monday she never showed up at school, STERNS was asked by JENN SOTO to "go sleep downstairs." Mother had cited reasons for this as a change in medication, the starting of a new new job, with new hours, and the desperately needing sleep.

5. It is believed, according to documents, that Madeline was actually murdered at some point on Sunday evening. AFTER her mother, allegedly, sent them both off to sleep together. Mother also takes meds for sleep each night according to court records.

6. Several ex-girlfriends of STERNS were interviewed by police at great length. Particularly, they were asked to detail their sex life with STERNS. More than one woman remarked, of note, * that STERNS would struggle with impotency unless..."STERNS had sex with them, anally, while they "played dead", and as past gf reports, and sometimes when they were "asleep." This clearly is a pattern of devious behavior on behalf of STERNS. 

7. Two different cars were involved in the complete commission of this crime: STERNS's father's car (A Lincoln), and STERNS use of Jenn SOTO's automobile by STERNS. JENN SOTO owned a white Nissan Sentra.

8. Cadaver dogs hit on both vehicles as mentioned above while officers were wearing body worn cameras.

8. Visibly, there appears to be asphyxiation/blood on a bag found in STEPHAN's dad's car in the backseat. Presumptively positively tested positive for blood.

9. It is believed that STERNS made multiple trips to and from Madeline's "final resting place"; for unknown reasons. It is possible, as this was a sexually fueled homicide, he was resisting the body to continue to engage in sex with body. This is NOT uncommon among criminals similar to STERNS.

10. STERNS drove a total of 6 hours (to and from) a storage unit in North Porth; 2 hours away from where JENN SOTO lives. STERNS, again, left several hard drives with  child. P. on them, and several different surveillance items that stored recordings.

11. Through going through the forensics, which Sterns attempted to dente, from his phone, by attempting to do a "FACTORY RESET" did not delete the inappropriate child images from his phone.  It was also noted, by furniture, and blankets, that STERNS appeared to be spying, against consent, on one of JENN SOTO's roommate. The police were able to simulate the angle of phone, as if under the door, where it appeared to be recorded from by STERNS.

12. Cause of death was ruled strangulation; no specification given.

13. STERNS made 4 separate trips, all of which was recorded on video surveillance, to the community dumpster right outside the SOTO residence, throwing away different items and belongings of Madeline. This included her school backpack, as well as her school issued computer.

14. Madeline was found, face down, wearing jeans, clean white socks, no shoes, with a hoodie pulled completely over her head.

15. STERNS did indeed  have a flat tire at or near the place he got a flat tire on his dad's car. This is another item, the tire, was thrown away at dumpster in near SOTO home. It matched TREAD from the place he dumped her body.

16. Stephan's father notably called him a jealous "control Freak." It is possible, after STERN's absence, since SOTO broke up with him in December, until that February, for Madeline's birthday, (her thirteenth birthday), that there was jealousy not in proportion to situation/not without great anger. This could be motto. Madeline having a crush on a boy in her grade is mentioned by a number of people; including STERNS. His knowledge of when )age) she "started her period" seemed inappropriate.

17. It seems JENN SOTO is a low functioning adult. Whether due to emotions, or IQ, is unclear.

18;. For a time of nearly a year, STEPHAN worked at Disney. What better way to have access to a variety of ages ; whatever his kink. He was fired, for unknown reasons.

19. Sterns had scratches on his knuckles which appeared to have been from Madeline. He blamed injuring himself changing a tire for the marks.

20. STERNS was observed on least 4 different occassions, on video surveillance, with Madeline, deceased, in front seat of the Lincoln he was driving. The last of which he was observed entering a parking garage, taking it to the top, and removing Madeline's body from the right passenger side and placing her in the TRUNK.
