CONTENTS OF THE NOTE:
Mr. Ramsey,
Listen carefully! We are a group of individuals that represent a small foreign foundation. We respect your business but not the country it seems. Ah this time we have your daughter in our possession. She is safe and and if you want her to see 1999, you must follow our instructions to the letter.
You will withdraw $118,000 from your account $100,000 will be in $100 bills and the remaining 18,000 in $20 dollar bills. Make sure that you bring adequate size attache to the bank. When you get home you will put the money in a brown paper bag. I will call you between 8 and 10 tomorrow and instruct you on delivery. The delivery will be exhausting so I advise you to be rested. If we manifest you get the money early to arrange an earlier delivery of the money and hence an earlier pick-up of your daughter.
Any deviation of my instructions will result in the immediate execution of your daughter.. You will be delivered her remains for proper burial. Speaking to anyone about your situation, such as police, F.B.I., etc, will result in your daughter being beheaded. If we catch you talking to a stray dog, she dies. If you alert bank entities,, she dies. If the money is in any way marked or tampered with, she dies. You will be scanned for electronic devices and if any are found, she dies. You can try to deride us but be warned that we are familiar with law enforcement, municipalities, and tactics. You stand a 99% chance of killing your daughter if you try to outsmart or not follow our instructions. And you stand a 100% chance of getting her back. You and your family are under constant scrutiny as well as the authorities. Don't try to grow a brain John. You are not the only fat cat around so don't think that killing would be difficult. Don't underestimate us John. Use that good Southern common sense of yours. It's up to you and John!
Victory!

DISCUSSING THE RANSOM NOTE
In many ways, the Ransom note is unique. With 370 words, it is considered to be extremely long. Whether hand written, typed, most ransom notes are direct and to the point; fewer words would equal less revealing of evidence. ***The random note was the first of many red flags for investigators. Could this be a "fake ransom" note?
Ransom notes are typically well thought out, and, typically, are written before the crime takes place. In this case however, it appears that the "kidnapper" composed the note while present on crime scene. The paper that it was written on was matched to a legal pad inside the home. The note itself was written in a soft pen black Sharpie.

KIDNAPPING GONE WRONG or ACCIDENT MADE TO LOOK LIKE. MURDER?
It would appear that the writer was not overly concerned with being discovered. This would suggest that he/she was in the home before and get comfortable there. Why else would you write the note "on the scene?"
Would someone, who wanted to extort money, by kidnapping a little girl, break in a house, search for pen and paper, sit in a lit room (bc you cannot write a three page letter in the dark) and take the time to write two or more drafts? Or, is this someone trying to disguise their handwriting?
The note was left on the back stairway. Did the writer know that Patsy Ramsey always took the back staircase downstairs in the morning? The note itself proved knowledge of John's finances. Mr. Ramsey had just received a bonus from work that totaled 118, 117. The ransom note specifically asked for $118,000. Very close to exactly the Christmas bonus that John brought home.
Whoever did write the note, they most likely knew intimate details about John Ramsey's life and may have been comfortable with the Ramsey House.

ALLEGEDLY ACTIONS ON PART OF PARENTS
After Patsy, allegedly, after stumbling upon the random note, then yelled for her husband John. They both searched their daughter's room; which she was not in.
John, in turn, called his bank and made arrangements to pick up the requested $118,000.
The note stated that the kidnappers would call between 8-10, but 10 am came and went without a phone call from anyone. When they had still yet to receive a phone call by mid-afternoon, a Detective on the scene told John Ramsey, and two of this friends, who had showed up to the house upon hearing the news, to search the house for "anything unusual."
The three adults started searching the basement first. Within minutes of starting to search the basement, one of the two friends of John Ramsey had helping search, yelled out to "call out for police."
John Ramsey then sprinted up the stairs carrying his young girl in his arms. The girl's arms were raised above her head. There was a white cloth wrapped around the girl's neck, and a matching white string hung from her right wrist. John Ramsey set his daughter down on the marble floor in the front foyer. Her lips were blue; she had indeed been murdered.

HANDWRITING ANALYSIS OF THE RANSOM NOTE
Handwriting samples were given by hundreds of different people. The handwriting analysis was able to immediately rule out both Burke Ramsey (Jon Benet's brother), and John Ramsey, her father. However, while Patsy couldn't be ruled in, she could not be ruled out. Handwriting analysts could never rule out Patsy Ramsey perhaps composing this letter with her non-dominant hand.
Even in 2024, after the death, from cancer, of Patsy Ramsey, the only remaining members are John Ramsey and his son Burke Ramsey. No closer to solving the crime today, as all those years ago.
