STEPHAN STERNS WRITTEN WITNESS STATEMENT TO POLICE/DISSECTING TRUTH FROM LIES
STEPHAN STERNS WRITTEN WITNESS STATEMENT TO POLICE/DISSECTING TRUTH FROM LIES
_______________________________________________________________________
The following is, word for word, Stephan Sterns written
statement to the police on the day of Madeline's "disappearance."
After the reading the statement, we will further analyze:
"Dropped off about a block or so from school sometime between
8:25-8:40 a.m. Turned around and headed back towards town. I
watched my rearview mirror as she made her way in the direction
of school. She was searching through her backpack for something,
but still moving in the direction of the school. So, I carried on with
my day. I stopped by nearby vape shop but it was closed so I
went home, and left an hour later or so to check the vape shop
again. It was open so I bought my vape juice and retuned home.
Relaxed with Jenn for awhile. Later went out that afternoon for
a few more errands, and returned home around 2:30"

WHAT ISSUES/PROBLEMS STAND OUT IN WRITTEN CONFESSION?
1. Stephan had stated multiple times, prior to writing the
statement, declared that "he and Maddie made really good time
this morning. She got up at around 7, and we were out the door
by 7:30 a.m.
2. The very first sentence is lacking any pronoun. The pronoun
should be "I", since Sterns is talking about himself dropping her
off. Absence the pronoun, it's distancing language.
3. Stephan cannot account for his time of day of abduction. There
are gaps in his timeline, and misleading times as to when she was
dropped off at school. His statement reflects he dropped her off
an hour plus later than when he first made statements on time.
4. In the second line, "Turned around..", again has no pronoun.
The missing pronoun, again, would be "I" since Stephan is
making the written statement.
5. Stephan, according to surveillance videos, DID NOT arrive
"early" at the vape shop to wait for it to open. It was approx.
8:45 am when he attempted to go to vape shop. Most smoke
or vape shops open around 10a.m. Obviously lie refuted by
surveillance which does NOT show Stephan's car near the vape
shop at the first time he denoted.
6. Sterns has given contradictory accounts of what happened
when he dropped Madeline off at school. He stated, prior to his
written statement, he said he dropped Madeline off "about a
block" from school, because she "didn't want McDonalds, she
wanted to go to church nearby, to meet up with school friends.
Video surveillance in this area was pulled and Stephan and Maddie
were not visible during any timeframes.
7. Stephan discusses in his statement that in his rearview mirror
he observed "Maddie looking for something in her bag", "but was
moving in direction of school." This denotes Maddie searching for
something important that she could be missing; or something
she didn't have. (ie, her cell phone being forgotten at home).
This is somewhat of a concerning statement, as Stephan is
observing Maddie in search of something/missing something.
If Sterns was really concerned that she had forgotten something
or could be missing something, he made no attempts to assist
the child. Despite knowing she'd "accidentally" left her cell phone
at home that morning; allegedly.
8. Sterns leaves out ENTIRELY from the story that he actually
had a flat tire on Old Hickory Road that was observed by at least
two witnesses. Despite telling Jenn over the phone that he'd
hurt himself/his fingers changing a tire, this event never even
makes it into Stephan's written police statement.
9. Sterns stated he returned around 2:30. This is definitively
NOT TRUE. Jenn Soto leaves at 2:30 each day of the week to
"be the first" to pick Maddie up from school. This day was no
different. Sterns was NOT HOME by 2:30 to accompany Jenn
to pick Madeline up at school. In actually, Sterns returned
slightly after 2:45 pm, well after Jenn left to pick up Maddie. And,
had just returned from "dumping" Madeline's body and fixing
a flat tire that he acquired, on his dad's borrowed car; that was
witnessed by two separate people.
