1. LONNIE FRANKLIN JR.: alleged to have slain a number of

women in South Central, Los Angeles. Then the serial killer

was quiet/inactive, it was thought, for some years. He began

committing crimes and tracked down by DNA evidence. Was

charged with a total of 10 slayings and found guilty of all.

NICKNAME: THE GRIM SLEEPER

2. DAVID BERKOWITZ:  carried out a series of

shootings in the summer of 1979. Killed six people with a

.45 revolvers. When he was captured by police, he automatically

confessed to everything

NICKNAME: SON OF SAM

3. GARY RIDGEWAY: one of the U.S.'s most prolific serial killers.

Gary eventually confessed to 70 plus murder to police. His M.O.

was picking up prostitutes, raping them against their will, and 

strangling them to death near the Green River in Washington

State.

NICKNAME: GREEN RIVER GARY

4. DENNIS RADER: slayed people in Kansas between the years

of 1974-1991. Dennis was obsessed with notoriety. He was

very attention-seeking, sending taunting letters to the police.

His M.O. was to stalk victims for some time before killing them.

He would bind his victims, torture his victims, and eventually

kill them.

NICKNAME: BTK

5. DENNIS NEILSON: British equivalent of Jeffrey Dahmer.

He was a gay killer who slayed 15 queer men in his own

apartment. He dissected the bodies, and flushed pounds of

human flesh down the drains; clogging the entire apartment

complex. Was charged with 6 murder in total.

NICKNAME: KINDLY KILLER

6. JOE METHANY: beginning in 1976, at age 21, he would always

slay victims and bury their bodies; sometimes "stripping" them

for "meat." Bethany eventually died in prison.

NICKANAME: CANNIBAL KILLER

7. HAROLD SHIPMAN: English doctor responsible for up to 

240 killings. He purposefully injected victims with lethal

amounts of diamorphine. 

NICKNAME: DR. DEATH

8. EDMUND KEMPER: slayer and necrophile who killed in the

Santa Cruz, Ca. area He slayed his grandparents when he was

15-years-old. He was institutionalized for years after before

being released back to custody of his mother. He went on to

murder 8 hitchhikers and his own MOTHER. After his last

crime, he called police, confessed, and agreed to turn self in.

9.TOMMY LYNN SELLS: considered on the most dangerous men

in Texas. Captured after breaking in bedroom of 1o-year-old

girl, stabbing her in the neck, and leaving her for dead. She

eventually, as a victim that survived, got to testify against

the offender.

NICKNAME: CROSS COUNTRY KILLER

10. ELIZABETH BATHORY: a sadistic, 16th century countess,

lured peasant girls to work for her. She starved, froze, and

tortured victims. Killed anywhere from 36-200 people.
